Abstract:
The main purpose of the study was to analyse the mediating effect of
psychological safety and psychological availability on the relationship
between leader trustworthiness and intrapreneurial behaviour among
employees from the manufacturing sector. The quantitative research approach
was adopted for this study. The explanatory research design was adopted. This
study was conducted among manufacturing firms in Ghana. A total sample
size of 291 respondents was considered. The data collection instrument for the
study was a questionnaire. The study‘s objectives were achieved by using the
structural equation model. The study found that there was no significant
relationship between leaders‘ trustworthiness and employee intrapreneurial
behaviour. Also, the study found that there was a positive and significant
relationship between psychological safety and employees‘ intrapreneurial
behaviour. The study found that there was a positive and significant
relationship between the variables. The study found that there was a positive
and significant relationship between leader trustworthiness and employees‘
psychological safety. The study found that there was a positive and significant
relationship between leader trustworthiness and employee psychological
availability. The study found that there was a full mediation of psychological
safety on the relationship between leader trustworthiness and employee
intrapreneurial behaviour. The study found that psychological availability had
a full mediating role on the relationship between leader trustworthiness and
intrapreneurial behaviour. The study recommended that organisations wanting
to institutionalize intrapreneurship should provide substantial support and
potential training to managers on how they can best support intrapreneurship.
