dc.description.abstract The study examined the influence of motivation, job satisfaction, organisational commitment, and intention to quit teaching among teachers in Public Senior High Schools in Tamale Metropolis. The cross-sectional design was adopted in the study. A representative sample size of 203 was selected for the study using self-administered questionnaires. Descriptive statistics including means, standard deviations, frequencies and percentages were used to summarise the data characteristics. The one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent samples t-test were used to explore the differences in demographic characteristics and intention to quit. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to ascertain the influence of motivation, job satisfaction and organizational commitment on teachers‟ intention to quit. The results revealed that most teachers were motivated to go into teaching because of job security and opportunity for training and development. In addition, significant differences in intention to quit were established regarding sex and years of experience. Further, job satisfaction made the most significant but negative contribution to intention to quit. Consequently, it is recommended that incentive packages should be given to teachers by Ghana Education Service to motivate them to stay in the teaching profession. School administrators and stakeholders in education should encourage teachers and give them some resources to support them in their teaching. en_US
