dc.description.abstract The main purpose of the study was to find out the challenges of women in administrative positions. The study was also to find out factors that encourage women to aspire for leadership positions in education. Some of the research questions that guided the study included; what are the main challenges of women in administrative positions in the Adenta Municipality? What effective support services are provided for female administrators of Schools in the Adenta Municipality to enhance their performance? The population was made up of 81 heads and 116 assistants in the in 81 schools in Adenta municipality in the Greater Accra Region. The purposive and random sample methods were used to select 130 respondents. Lack of financial resources; lack of material resources; role conflict (administration and teaching); thefts at school; family commitments; allocating resources; and heading small, non-prestigious school were found to be the main challenges of women in administrative positions. The study recommended that more women should be involved in leadership to motivate other women who aspire to be leaders. en_US
