dc.description.abstract | Teachers occupy a central and vital position in any educational system and that their attitudes and commitment have been of paramount interest to educational authorities. The study seeks to examine the influence of head teachers’ leadership style on teachers’ commitment in the Adentan Municipality. Descriptive design of the quantitative method of research was employed for the study. The systematic random and simple random sampling methods were used in selecting respondents. Questionnaire was the main data collection instrument and a sample size of 100 teachers was used. Frequencies, tables, and percentages were also used to present the data. The research found that the leadership style mainly exhibited by head teachers was transformational as teachers are encouraged to develop their strengths and articulate compelling vision of the future. It was further identified that factors such as effectiveness of leadership, behavior and supportiveness of head teachers influenced teachers’ commitment in the basic schools. The study also showed a positive correlation between head teachers leadership style and teachers commitment. It is recommended that the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service should organize in-service training for head teachers in the practice of the full range leadership styles to increase commitment levels of teachers. | en_US |
